Rain didn’t relent even on the reserve day of the second ICC World Cricket League Championship fixture between the Netherlands and Scotland at the VRA ground in Amstelveen, forcing an abandonment without a ball being bowled on Thursday (September 17).

Both Scotland and the Netherlands have been awarded one point each and continue to jointly lead the points table with six points from four matches, with Scotland enjoying a better net run-rate. However, the six other teams in the tournament – Namibia, Kenya, Hong Kong, Nepal, United Arab Emirates and Papua New Guinea – are yet to play a match in the second round of the tournament and could catch up with the table-toppers.
The first game between the two sides had suffered a similar fate, with no result possible. In that match, incisive bowling by Scotland had accounted for the Netherlands’ top order before Roelof van der Merwe and Peetar Seelar combined to lead the recovery. But even with the reserve day being used then, the Netherlands’ innings couldn’t be completed.
The next match of the tournament will see Namibia take on Kenya in Windhoek on October 30.
